Long, but well-paced, the mix of intense action and clever dialogue keeps the interest level high throughout, and all of the actors give fully entertaining performances. On the action, special effects take center stage, but I never felt like any shot moved too fast to follow what was happening, or that anything looked overly CGI. As for the dialogue, it includes a healthy dose of humor, but it's typically more witty than corny, and a couple of scenes are downright hilarious. And the acting showed great chemistry among all of these characters. I've seen most of their solo movies, and they stick closely to the personalities already established in those films. The only one I haven't seen is Mark Ruffalo's Incredible Hulk, but he's one of the highlights of The Avengers. Not only is he very authentic and convincing as Bruce Banner, but I enjoyed the Hulk's scenes more than just about anything in the movie. In fact, he's in what I think are the two funniest scenes. I don't want to spoil them, but they involve punching Thor and slamming Loki around like a rag doll; both completely cracked me up! On a last note, Loki provides a perfectly sinister villain to drive the plot and keep the stakes high, and almost makes the movie seem like a half-sequel to Thor. Even though the expectations for The Avengers were ridiculously high, I think director Joss Whedon and the cast have met them and given fans a real treat.Danmarkhttp://findingselfbelief.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7621435634260212224.post-60871019102600317632012-04-27T12:45:33.331-07:002012-04-27T12:45:33.331-07:00Great review. I prefer the UK title of "Avengers Assemble" as you know there will be more of these movies and it's better for movies to have their own unique title instead of being "part 1", "part 2"... etc.Alex Jowskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11737798466816750685noreply@blogger.com
